Superman was perched on the top of the tower, looking out over the City. And when he was 'looking', he really was looking. Scanning, X-raying, telescoping, you name it. Any trace of what he was looking for, he would probably find. Listening in on conversations that could possibly lead him to his quarry. It was a good vantage point because it was right smack in the middle of Gotham City. He was on the edge of the building, his red boot stepping out just slightly as he leaned forward, honing in on something or the other.

The trail of the missing kryptonite that he and Kara were after had led him here, to Gotham.

Unfortunately.

Besides the eyewitness accounts, Lois had been able to dig up even more information on where the supposed thieves had been seen last, where they had come from (last seen at a series of simple petty robberies in Gotham). Also--the biggest black market was here--how else would one manage to get the 'hot', not to mention distinct, meteor out of their hands? If there was trouble to be dug up, it would be found in Gotham.

Clark Kent was conveniently on the case as well, and was staying at a seedy little apartment just outside of the downtown area. Unfortunately his mild-mannered appearance and attitude worked a little too well, he was mugged twice and nearly run over. However a little help from a super-friend got his wallet back. His alter-ego could not be confrontational--he couldn't show off any semblance of strength, even whilst defending himself. Maybe in a desperate emergency someday. But not for something as simple as this.

He hoped that maybe the appearance of the 'big blue' would...strike fear in the hearts of criminals or something. He didn't work by fear, didn't like to, but these guys didn't seem to understand anything but. He highly doubted his method of trust would work as well in this cynical city.

At least word would get out, right?

Bruce shook the man who was hanging before him "Where is it!" Batman asked forcefully. The man cowered and said nothing, so the bat let the grapple trigger go sending the man falling very quickly to the ground but before he could hit the ground he held the trigger. The man stopped hit a grinding grunt. Bruce pulled the man back up and asked him again.

"I Don't know where it is I just know who it went to." he replied almost in a cry. "Who?" Bruce now said in his regular deep tone. "Airum an metahuman." he said, Bruce had met Airum before and it would seem that he would be dangerous with something that a had a radiation level of 12.8 on the scale.

Bruce let the trigger go once more and the man fell again, Bruce st opted it then right as he was about an inch from the cold hard earth he let the man go. The Dark Knight jumped off of the roof top and down to his car. Alfred came up on screen, "Alfred I need you to scan for a radiation of 12.8 all over Gotham." he said to the man on the screen. "Yes master Bruce." he replied the the screen went dark again.

The Squadron leaders had seen all that they needed to see of Gotham City. Five of them took off and flew back to Metropolis. Only two remained -- Airum, Raven Squadron leader, and Falco, Falcon Squadron leader. They crouched side by side, arms resting on their knees, black wings spread for balance. Here, on the roof of a skyscraper, the shadows obscured their forms.

"I want to establish a base of operations here, Falco," Airum said.

Falco, eyes scanning the skyline, nodded slowly and finally replied, "It is possible."

"It is necessary."

"And the one who calls himself Batman?"

"If he makes himself a nuisance, we will deal with him. But we must establish a hold in Gotham."

"Why?"

After a moment of silence, Airum said, "Gotham is a city of shadows. If the time comes, we must be able to disappear into them."

"Not all of the Legends will want to go underground."

"If they want to survive, the time may come when they may not have a choice."

"Dag's death?"

Airum nodded and said, "You and Falcon Squadron will run the operation. Crow Squadron will assist you, as needed. Brief Rtais and Indiana on a need-to-know basis."

"Yes sir."

"And there is one other thing."

"Sir?"

Airum drew a black velvet pouch from his pocket and passed it to Falco. At Airum's nod, Falco opened the pouch and looked inside. A small shard of Kryptonite glowed eerily within. Falco drew the pouch's strings tight again, closing the pouch, and gave it back to Airum.

"Well?" Airum asked.

"It is glowing green stone. What is it?"

Airum paused a moment and then said, deadpan, "It is Kryptonite."

It wasn't hard to see the distinct green radiation, nor to hear the conversation that surrounded it. Surprisingly close, too, on top of a skyscraper. He could see television signals and radio signals and other wavelengths, so the Kryptonite flared up like a little lighthouse beacon on top of that building.

"Airum," Superman muttered as he took off from the Wayne building and headed for them. He set his mouth tightly, trying to think how he'd accomplish this. If he stayed away, he would look like he was bothered by the Kryptonite. If he came close and tried to take it, he could only last at what looked like full strength for a few minutes before the effects would be obvious to even them. That is, if Airum didn't know what it did already.

"Airum!" He yelled out, hovering above the skyscraper rooftop. Close, close enough to feel the dull ache in the back of his teeth whenever the rock was around, but not far enough away as to seem suspicious. If anything, it came off as arrogance the way he floated above them, looking down. He didn't care what they thought of him as this point, he needed to get the shard of rock.

Actually, what he needed right now was lead. Something, anything lead to block the radiation. He scanned the building they were on--downstairs, a few floors down there was an old room covered in old lead paint. He knew this because he couldn't see through the room--very possibly something done by Luthor, who had anything Luthorcorp-owned practically doused in the stuff, so that he couldn't use his X-ray vision.

He folded his arms, still hovering, his cape fluttering out behind him, his blue eyes just starting to show a hint of red from his heat vision. Something that always showed up whenever he got rather emotional, or simply angry. Not that he was particularly angry--though he was more than a little miffed that Airum had the kryptonite.

Joe had his Hench men follow thew flyer's as soon as they got into town. He heard they were into something big and the Joke wanted in. His boys told him that Airum landed on top of the Wayne building, so he decide to have some fun. Green colored gas filled the main foyer and the two guards who were up for the night shift fell to the floor. Joker strapped a large smiley mask onto his pasty white face then walked into the foyer. His legs kicked up as he jogged in laughing, he sat down at the receptionist desk "All security to the foyer." he said out load to his thugs mocking a womans voice.

The Joker and his men entered the elevator and pressed penthouse. After what seemed like hours the elevator stopped on the top floor and The Joker exited leaving his men in the penthouse he climbed one more flight of stairs to the roof. He opened th steel door to find two winged metahumans one the roof. "What is this a game without the Joker?" he asked cracking up.

His attention was turned to the sudden burst of people on top of that roof.

He looked down, a bit of confusion on his face. He had never seen the Joker before and it took him a moment to place the name with what he knew. He'd heard of things here and there and read articles. Not a nice fellow. Hmm, maybe with the appearance of this foe, the famed Bat-man would make a showing.

Now that would be interesting, Superman mused. He didn't want to go directly across from Airum because of the Kryptonite, so he took a route above the winged people and made it look like that's what he wanted to do, instead of something that he needed to do. The green rock's effects could still be felt and he wondered what they all would think if he threw up all of a sudden up here. Because he really, really felt like he was about to.

"Joker, you've got one minute to put down whatever weapons you have on you and your men before I take you in," he pointed his finger at the creepy clown as he hovered above him and his henchmen. No sense beating around the bush--this guy was bad news and he would have him arrested, Kryptonite or none.

As the Batmobile spun around a corner, Alfred came up on the screen. "Police reports tell that The Joker has been spotted at Wayne tower sir." he said in a monotone voice like he always did. "What about the radiation?" Bruce asked, keeping his eyes on the road. "Thats the thing sir...it's also coming from Wayne tower." he replied, Batman looked at the street sign and turned around then sped toward Wayne tower. "Thanks." Bruce said as he turned off the screen and pulled into the alley next to Wayne tower.

Bruce climbed the building next to Wayne tower that had a fire escape then jumped off that roof to glide onto the side Wayne of Wayne tower. He heard voices coming from the top.Joker he thought as he crept on the side then to the top of the door way on the roof.

He surveyed the roof from the shadows and saw the Joker and his men talking to the same winged metahuman that Bruce met the previous week. As Batman looked up he saw a man, or what looked like one, hovering in the air. This must be the famed Superman he thought. Bruce would eventually take part but for now he wanted to stay invisible.

It was perhaps fortune that brought the thin young man into the situation. He lived near Downtown, though no one would know it as much time as he spent within the confining walls of his prison, his home--Arkham Asylum, it was a place that could suck the very light out of the air, the very cheer from a sprint or the very sanity, from those foolish enough to come into His playground.

He was not stuck in there with the crazies they were stuck in there with him. There was nothing that Jonathan Crane, liked better than, helping the mobsters stuck in there, into a nice padded cell. Since the Falcone incident, he had mostly targeted them, it was a much better thing in his opinion to get them before they decided to get him.

Paranoia was health in his line of work.

A bird's shadow passed over him, and Doctor Crane almost made a sound --almost he glanced up to see the bird, horriably thing, blue jay...as a boy he'd watched a pair of blue jay's attack a cat, and blind it. He'd kept that cat, until it had died, of old age. Than he'd gotten Craw...in an attempt to understand his own irrational fear--he was still working on that.

A long plale hand shielded his eyes, and Doctor Crane made a sound. " Curious" he mused softly.

There was certainly something going on upstairs, with the man in blue tights floating in broad daylight. Superman his memory supplied for him, and the Scarecrow nodded. He was well aware of who Superman was, he was often on the news, from Metropolis, so what brought him to Gotham ?

Jonathan tapped a long finger to his lips, he could look into this. He could call his black market contacts, and see what was what, but first he wanted to see what was going down here.

Purchasing a Pretzel from a vendor, the dark haired, lanky man in the pic a niz glasses leaned against a building and chewed his pretzel, watching for the fireworks.

Idly, he wondered what a man who could fly, labeled the man of steel...could be afraid of.

To say that Airum was infuriated would be putting it mildly. I told you, Superman, not to interfere, Airum thought. And here you are. You left Metropolis unguarded so that you could poke your nose into affairs that don't concern you. Agitatedly, he ruffled his wings and half-opened them, as if to fly. Beside him, Falco tensed. Both men hid their hands in their jackets, and their fingers coiled around the grips of their handguns. Airum traded a glance with Falco and ever so slightly shook his head. We play this cool, was the silent command, although fury hummed in Airum's veins. Falco nodded ever so slightly.

Then Joker and minions appeared. At first, Airum thought that Joker was an ally of Superman, and they were here to take down him and Falco. In a second, he would have drawn his gun and shot Superman between the eyes for this betrayal. But his hand was stayed when Superman told Joker and minions to drop their weapons. So Joker and Superman were not together. This realization cooled Airum's anger, but only by a few degrees.

Slowly, Airum turned to face Joker and his goons. As much as he disliked and distrusted Superman, at least he could count on him to be honorable. Joker and his men were the unknown in this equation.

"Pardon," Airum said, icily, "But we were here first. Go stage your battle on another roof."

OOC | Mild mannered, Clark Kent can stop a bullet with his eyeballs. >D -laughs-

I'm so sorry for the wait everyone! I've been somewhat busy...
